NCJW Portland Section has 4 designated Tribute Funds, which were established in memory of loved ones who were active members of the section. At the end of the club year our tribute committee researches and identifies appropriate organizations to give the collected funds to. These were the 2010 recipients:
The Minnie F. Ehrman Fund for Medical and Dental Care
Donations designated for this fund have been given to The Friends of Creston School Children's Dental Clinic . This dental clinic provides comprehensive, restorative care, and preventative services to uninsured children K-12 within the Portland Public School system who qualify for free or reduced lunch program. The clinic is staffed by volunteer dentists from the greater Portland area who work on a rotational schedule, with state of the art dental equipment donated by a local dental manufacturing company. Operating since 1962, students must be accompanied by a parent or guardian so that dental hygiene care can be taught to the family.

The Jean Rustin Fund for Children and Youth
Donations to this fund were given to the Urban Gleaners, who are collaborating with Portland NW Ministries Backpack Program, providing fresh food for school children to take home on weekends.

The Dorothy Asher Fund for Senior Cultural Programs
These funds were given to the Rose Schnitzer Manor to support a creative writing program for the residents. Dubbed "The Older but Wiser Writing Group", they have written a collection of one act plays, which will be performed January 29 at RSM. See the Bulletin for details.

The Marion Quint Rose Fund for Senior Counseling
When the accumulation of funds allows, Portland Section has offered a Bereavement Support Group with a licensed social worker who provides support and counseling to individuals, families, hospitals, and nursing facilities where those who are struggling with grief issues can be helped.
