On December 6th we were invited to the MJCC for the unveiling of the plaque which commemorates our donation to keep open the Hydrotherapy Pool.

After the unveiling, Jeanne Newmark and her award winning MAC Synchronized Swim Team performed for us. This team competes nationally and has won first place in their division for the past 13 years!!!

Rescheduled because of snow, we were invited to bring donations, take a tour, and be treated to lunch by Roz Babner, Director of the Community Warehouse.

The Community Warehouse donates furniture and household items at no cost to low income families by referral through several social service agencies. Recipients include the domestic violence shelters and the Goose Hollow shelter which we also support.

After closing our Thrift Shop we wanted to find donation sites where the items we bring will be given away to those in need rather than be sold for the profit of another organization.

The Community Warehouse is always in need of; towels, sheets, blankets, pillows, kitchenware, alarm clocks, mops and brooms, and furniture.

On July 8 we partnered with the Portland Chapter of Hadassah, Congregation Beth Israel, Urban Jews/ Machar, Annie Bloom's Books and Lakeside Bicycles, and hosted author Peter Zheutlin for an afternoon bike ride and presentation.

Peter's book Around the World on Two Wheels is a chronicle of his Great-Grand Aunt's 1894 bicycle ride and epic adventure.  Annie Londonderry was a Jewish mother of 3 children and the first woman to ride her bike around the world. A daring woman who took on a wager and traveled alone with only a revolver and change of underwear, Annie funded her adventure by renting advertising space on her clothing and lecturing to locals for an admittance fee. Peter's presentation included pictures she collected along the way - it was historically awesome and very entertaining! Annie Bloom's Books sold every copy of his book that they brought to the event.
